I love cherries.  I love vanilla cherry ice-cream.  While I patiently wait on Briana to come up with a Cherry Vanilla Ice cream recipe for me, I made myself a shake.  Cherries are a bit higher in carbs and their glycemic index is higher than strawberries for example.  THM would suggest keeping those kinds of fruits in an "E" setting.  Let's cut the chit chat and get to making a shake!   verycherryshake Ingredients:
  • 1 cup unsweetened cashew or almond milk
  • 1/2 cup water (or more on plan milk)
  • 1 scoop THM Pristine Protein Powder
  • 1/4 cup 1 or 2% cottage cheese
  • 1/2 Tbs Super Sweet or 1 Tbs of Truvia, or 1-2 doonks of THM Stevia extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp of cherry extract (or less)  *strong stuff so please measure.
  • 1 tsp coconut oil or MCT oil
  • 20 cherries, pitted or frozen would work fine.
  • dash of salt
  • 12 cubes of ice
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp of THM Gluccomanan or Xanthan Gum if you want a thicker shake.
Optional add:  1 tsp or so of THM Collagen, extra tsp of MCT oil.  With MCT you can have up to 2 tsp of added fat.  It's super special. Directions: Place in a Ninja or blender and blend until smooth. This is a Pulled Back E for those advanced THM'ers.   I am NOT a counter and THM doesn't really encourage counting either.  Cherries about about a carb per cherry, so maybe you can guesstimate from there.  If you want more detailed info, you can use a calorie or counter of some type to figure out the details. This recipe would be fantastic as a popsicle!  I'd probably double the batch and pour in the molds to set up.  Healthy popsicles are so great for us and the kids!  What a fun way to get fruits and even veggies in our family.

I just made this… Left cherries Out, added almond and vanilla flavorings, used 1/2 C 2% cottage cheese, no oils… Would mine be FP?? Thanks!!!! ( was delicious)

  2. Stine

Could this be made without the extract or would the cherry flavour be to weak? I don’t have any but I have a bunch of cherries

  3. Cheryl

Are frozen cherries to high in sugars to use instead of the flavoring?

    • godzgaljen@gmail.com

Nope…you can have up to one cup of cherries in an E setting.

I made this tonight so we can have it for a snack tomorrow. of course, we had to taste it…LOVED it! I snuck in some collagen and packed off on the protein powder. Looking forward to my E snack. Thank you!

ps…where do you buy frozen cherries? my package was good for maybe 2.5 shakes and I’d like a larger size. Haven’t checked Costco yet!

I see a lot of THM recipes that call for cottage cheese. I’m dairy free. What would be a good non dairy substitute for this, or can I just eliminate it? Maybe canned coconut milk for the creamy flavor/texture?

    • godzgaljen@gmail.com

You could leave it out I think. It really does add creaminess. It doesn’t affect the flavor at all. I’d be concerned that the coconut milk might.
