Shan, the boys and I love our church!  We attend Oikos Community Church in Hilliard, OH.  You can read the church's position on Bible translations, elder qualifications and what we believe on the blog linked above.   I know, some of you are wondering why we travel an hour and a half to church.  To be honest, God changed and worked in our hearts a lot the past few years.  We were at a transition in our lives where we were having church at home for about a year.  God used that time to prepare us for what was next.   Here is a little segment from the church blog:
"Oikos is committed to glorifying God through submission to the whole Word of God which agrees with His word. Oikos will reach out to the community and the world with Christlike, incarnational compassion in order to extend God’s hand of salvation to build mature, joy filled, radical, praying, missional and reduplicating followers of Christ and churches. Oikos exists to strengthen the Biblical concept of family, both physical and spiritual, in a non-age segregated environment."
I am overwhelmed by what God has done and is doing in our lives and in the lives of those in our church body.  We feel extremely blessed.  I took some pictures the other Sunday during church fellowship.  After our worship service we all enjoy a meal together and chat for a few hours after church.  This is such a great addition to our Sunday since we live further away.  Three of the families in attendance drive over an hour so it's nice to sit, have a free lunch and to fellowship. Oikos is located at: The ITT Institute Building- 3781 Park Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, Ohio We would LOVE for you to come and visit sometime.  Services at at 10:30 on Sunday mornings.  If  you are from a different area, here is The National Center for Family-Integrated Churches website where you can find a church near you! If you have any questions about family-integrated churches, let me know!  I will do my best to answer your comments and questions.

I absolutely love the name of your church. Our church has been reading a lot of Mike Breen’s Missional Community material & talking about the concepts of Oikos & Kairos, etc. So I’m glad you found a good church. When I was in college, I drove an hour to my church in Indy. I’ll have to read more about the “family-integrated” churches. Thanks for posting.

I will have to look up the book you mentioned. I’ve not heard of it before. The website I posted is a great one for starters. I know our church website has some good documents on the right hand side also saying what we believe, etc.

Driving an hour and half flies by when you know God wants you there! 🙂

I am looking at visiting, because I am really interested in learning how “it flows” in a family-integrated church and would love to get a taste of experiencing worship that way with my family. I saw that services were at 10:30; is there something else at 9:30 am? Thanks for any help you can give! (we live in Newark, so it would be about an hour drive I think)
